Emergency responders are actively investigating a reported bomb threat at the Macy's Distribution Center in China Grove, officials with Rowan County Emergency Services said on Wednesday morning.
Regional bomb squads and explosive detection K-9 teams have been dispatched to the scene to search the property. Public safety officials issued emergency notification messages to residents, businesses, and facilities within a half-mile radius of the distribution center as a precautionary measure.
No evacuation order has been issued at this time, but multiple regional agencies are providing specialized assistance on scene, including bomb squads and explosive detection K-9 teams from various local law enforcement departments. Public safety officials and emergency management personnel are also coordinating with the Rowan-Salisbury School System to ensure the safety of students and staff at nearby Carson High School.
Authorities have urged individuals in the affected area to remain alert and monitor official public safety communications for updates. They have also advised against calling 911 for information unless experiencing an active emergency situation.
