The NTT IndyCar Series is gearing up for what could be its biggest spectacle ever to hit the streets, the Freedom 250 Grand Prix. The event will see America's premier open-wheel series racing past some of the country's most iconic landmarks.
Drivers Josef Newgarden and Kyle Kirkwood recently appeared on Fox News Channel's "Fox & Friends" to discuss the once-in-a-lifetime event. They were joined by Fox Sports IndyCar commentator Will Buxton, who described it as a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see IndyCars racing around the nation's capital".
Newgarden, a two-time Indianapolis 500 winner and two-time series champion, echoed Buxton's sentiments, saying that this is a chance for the drivers to experience something they may never get to do again. Kirkwood, who is currently second in the championship standings, also expressed his excitement about racing on the street circuit.
The Freedom 250 Grand Prix will take place around Washington, DC, with practice getting underway on Saturday morning and qualifying scheduled for early that evening. The main event is set to start at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, with pre-race coverage beginning at 11:30 a.m. on FOX.
The drivers are looking forward to racing in front of what promises to be a large crowd, with over 100,000 people expected to attend the event on both days.
