The Tampa Bay Rays have tied the American League Championship Series at two games apiece, defeating the Cleveland Guardians 7-3 in Game 4. The series was delayed due to weather on Friday night, pushing both Games 4 and 5 back one day each.
The Guardians took an early lead in the first inning, with Chase DeLauter driving in Steven Kwan with an RBI single. However, Cleveland's offense remained quiet for the majority of the game. The Rays tied the game in the third inning with a two-out rally, as Yandy Diaz doubled and Jonathan Aranda drove him in.
Tampa Bay took a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning, thanks to an RBI double by Junior Caminero with runners on first and second and no outs. The Rays then extended their lead in the seventh inning, with Aranda bringing in both of the runs to give Tampa Bay a 4-1 advantage. Cleveland was able to cut the deficit in half in the bottom half of the frame.
In the top of the ninth inning, Diaz added some insurance runs with a two-out, two-run home run. All-Star closer Bryan Baker then shut the door for the Rays, getting a double play after a leadoff single and striking out Angel Martinez to end the game.
The series will now head to Game 6, which is scheduled to be played on Monday as normally scheduled. There are no more scheduled off days in the series, and Game 5 is set for Sunday at 5:08 p.m. ET.
