A Washington homeowner called 911 after hearing mysterious banging inside their house, prompting a response from local police who discovered a bobcat perched at the top of the stairs.
The incident occurred last week in the Moss Bay neighborhood of Kirkland, where police were able to safely corral the wild animal. No one was injured in the encounter, according to the Kirkland Police Department.
Police responded to the report of a possible burglary and found the bobcat inside the home. Authorities used a drone to monitor the animal's movements, allowing officers to maintain a safe distance and coordinate their response.
Video released by the police department shows the bobcat growling at the top of the staircase. The animal was eventually sedated and released near Forbes Creek, close to its natural habitat.
Police believe the bobcat may have climbed a tree and jumped through an open window, possibly attracted by the homeowner's cat. The resident's cat was found unharmed in the incident.
