Moms for Liberty, a parental rights organization, has developed an artificial intelligence system to monitor school board agendas across the United States. The system, called M4L AWARE, scans agendas every 12 hours for issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion, gender policies, curriculum changes, and Title IX.
According to the organization, the system is designed to give local chapters a window of roughly 72 hours to mobilize parents, sign up for public comment, and scrutinize proposals before board members cast their votes. When the system flags a high-priority item, it sends a plain-language summary and a ready-to-share alert to local chapters.
The organization's co-founder and CEO, Tina Descovich, stated that the new system will allow parents to quickly identify concerning policies buried deep within school board agendas, even when they are released late in the week. Descovich noted that the system is a response to the organization's previous efforts to inform parents about school board meetings, which she said was often time-consuming and difficult.
The announcement of the system comes as the Justice Department's Weaponization Working Group released a report on Monday detailing the FBI's investigation of parents following a 2021 memorandum from then-Attorney General Merrick Garland. The report concluded that the memo was the product of pressure from the White House and was used to wrongly target parents.
Descovich stated that the new system is a way for Moms for Liberty to increase oversight of school boards across the nation and empower parents like never before.
