A passenger on a recent EVA Air flight from Taiwan was caught on video using a drinking glass to scratch his scalp, leaving fellow travelers visibly uncomfortable.

The incident occurred on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner on September 24, and was witnessed by a passenger seated directly behind the man. The witness described the scene as "disgusting" and said that it made the premium cabin experience feel like it had taken a drastic turn.

The passenger who recorded the video said that he lost his appetite for the meal service as a result of witnessing the incident, and expressed concern that the man's actions could potentially spread dandruff to others. The flight landed safely, and the incident has sparked discussion about public behavior on planes.

Etiquette expert Diane Gottsman noted that using a glass to scratch one's head is "completely inappropriate" in public, and that people should be aware of their surroundings and the comfort level of others when engaging in personal grooming.

This incident is not an isolated one, as several flyers have complained about public-facing behavior on planes in recent years, including a passenger who was criticized for putting their feet up on a window seat in March 2026.
