A mass shooting at a home in Erie, Pennsylvania, on Friday evening resulted in the deaths of eight people, including a pregnant woman and her two young children. According to local reports, Angelina Stone, who was eight months pregnant, was just four days away from giving birth.
Stone and her children, Isiah and Amari'anna, as well as several other relatives, were among the victims. A GoFundMe has been set up to help with funeral expenses, which identifies the unborn baby as Kyrie. The suspected gunman, a 45-year-old man, died from what investigators believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police Chief Rick Lorah said that the suspected gunman was related to seven of the eight victims and was the family's patriarch and a grandfather. The eighth victim was a family friend. Lorah also suggested that mental health may have played a role in the shooting, but cautioned that it was too early to determine a motive.
The Erie Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident, which occurred before officers arrived on the scene. All eight victims and the suspected gunman are believed to have died before police arrived. The family is seeking help covering funeral expenses, and a GoFundMe organizer has stated that any donation, no matter the amount, will help ease the financial burden and allow the family to give the victims a proper farewell.
