He further emphasized that compensation should be paid to the families of hundreds of thousands of innocent protesters killed over the last 50 years, as well as those killed in combat.
The president's comments come amid ongoing tensions between the US and Iran, with Tehran demanding reparations for what it claims is damage caused by US military operations. Iranian officials have set out a series of conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, including an end to US military operations and threats, the lifting of sanctions, and compensation for war damage.
