Connor Zilisch, a 20-year-old NASCAR Cup Series driver, will join Hendrick Motorsports at the end of the 2027 season. The move comes as Zilisch's contract with Trackhouse Racing is set to expire after next year.
Zilisch has had a mixed start to his rookie season in the Cup Series, having won 10 O'Reilly Series races last year but currently sitting 34th in the standings. He will replace Alex Bowman, who has announced his retirement from racing after the 2027 season.
Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick praised Zilisch's talent and character, stating that he is "a truly gifted young racer" with exceptional driving ability. Hendrick expressed confidence in Zilisch's potential to carry on the legacy of the No. 48 Ally team for years to come.
Zilisch signed a multi-year deal with Hendrick Motorsports, which will see him drive a Chevrolet and compete alongside some of the best drivers in racing. Ally will continue as the sponsor of the No. 48 car.
In a statement, Zilisch described the opportunity to join Hendrick Motorsports as "one of those moments you dream about as a kid". He expressed gratitude for the confidence shown in him by the team and vowed to prove that they made the right decision in signing him.
The move marks a significant change for Zilisch, who will be leaving Trackhouse Racing after next season.
