A 50-year-old man from Louisiana has been accused of killing his wife and driving through multiple states before being arrested in Tennessee.

Tyronne Brazille was stopped by police in Memphis on Thursday for a traffic violation, at which point officers found the lifeless body of his wife, Lanessa Bradford, 50, in the passenger seat of his vehicle with a gunshot wound. According to authorities, the couple had been married for years and Bradford was planning to leave her husband.

A longtime friend of Bradford's, Shelicka Decker, said that Bradford had told her she was planning to leave Brazille because he had become increasingly controlling. "She had the money saved up," Decker said. "She had come up with a plan, and she was going to just vanish. That was the only way she would be able to get away from him."

However, before Bradford could put her plan into action, investigators allege that Brazille shot and killed her during an argument at Independence Community Park in Baton Rouge. Brazille then drove through several states with his wife's body in the vehicle before being stopped in Memphis.

Brazille was taken into custody as a fugitive and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday. He will eventually be extradited back to Louisiana, where he faces a murder charge in connection with Bradford's death.
